When it's not about money (it really is!)

Money, money, money

I do love when people say that money isn't everything, and yet they spend their whole lives trying to make more money. Maybe this is you? Maybe you want more money, but it creates a feeling of guilt or shame and so you downplay the level of income you desire, if so, keep on reading as this post is for YOU!!

Have you been told that you need to listen in school so you can get a good job that will pay you lots of money?

Were you told to find a rich man who will look after you?

Maybe you were told you were told me be a strong, independent person who makes their own wealth?

And yet.........

That was always followed with:
  • Watching your parents work hard up to retirement and still not having enough.

  • Stories about women who married for money and then left with nothing.

  • Tales of how rich people are evil and take ALL the money from the poor.

It's no wonder you want more and yet you subconsciously stop yourself from achieving it. I've spent my life growing up hearing that money is everything and yet people who have a lot of money are 'evil'. It's a twisted, contradicting mindset that most of us have, which is why we find ourselves barely making enough to get by in life.

I wasn't aware of this!

That's right, I had no idea that all of this was going on in my subconscious thoughts and then I read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

This book was the first one I had ever read about money mindset and what that whole concept meant. i had never heard of the term 'money mindset' before! It wasn't mentioned in schools, college, when I travelled or even in jobs I had worked. But I am here to tell you, that whether you are aware of it or not, you do HAVE a money mindset. We all do!

"My poor Dad said, I would rather be happy than rich, and my rich Dad said, why not be both?"

Rich Dad, Poor Dad changed my whole view on money MASSIVELY. I finally started to see that the 'story' I had been told all my life was not real and it was sabotaging my potential.

Here's how to work on your own money mindset?
  1. Write a list of everything you have ever heard about money. Once you start, it will all flow.

  2. Which of these beliefs do you still carry today? E.g. money is hard to make.

  3. Write a letter to the Universe explaining why you want more money and all the things you would do with it.

Be really specific and talk about how you would feel and what you would do.

My biggest money belief was money doesn't grow on trees.

What's yours?
