What Is Tracking?

Tracking is used to measure how far you are from your current position [PRESENT DAY] to where you want to be [END GOAL].

Here's an example:

  • GOAL: To have £10,000 in savings in your bank

  • CURRENT: No savings in the bank or anywhere

  • ACTION: To save money every month [£200 pcm/every month]

  • TRACKER: Monthly check in to see if you are on target to hit your goal.

Common Mistakes

Now, I have made many of these and I still can when I am not fully aware of my actions.

I have:

  • Set goals with no end date

  • Started taking action and then stopped

  • Not set a clear tracking system in place

  • Set a tracker and then not followed it

It happens all the time! We see it every new year when people set big goals to change their lives and come January 2nd, they've all given up. Again, something I have done repeatedly.

Without a timeline / date in which you want to achieve your goal by, your tracker will lack some clarity.

If you're not tracking at all, how can you possibly hope to achieve anything in the first place.


My Current Tracker

Here's something I am doing to track a goal I have:

  • GOAL: To pay back debt I have from personal development investments [I know the total figure]

  • CURRENT: £££ debt waiting to be paid off

  • ACTION: To pay back [£££] every month into an account

  • TRACKER: On pay day, I transfer the amount into the account and I record this on a Google Sheet doc. It tells me, what I am paying in each month and the total I have paid back to date.


What Do You Need To Start Tracking?

Have you got a goal for this month or year that you just aren't seeing results in? How are you tracking that progress? How often are you tracking it?

I want you to look at your goal right now and see what tracking you can put in place to support you moving closer to your goal.
