Before You Can Attract, You Have To Become!

Just another podcast episode

Believe it or not, this post was inspired by a podcast episode!

It tends to be a running theme with me, because I love podcasts and they always inspire me.

Plus, I wanted to use this platform as a way to share my voice and to share my personal journey to becoming the best version of me.

So that means sharing with you how this podcast opened my eyes, and how it impacted me in that moment.

Let's dive it

It's a Wednesday afternoon, it's been raining all day and I have spent the last 3 days working from home. For anyone who knows me, I can take a certain style of working for a little while and then I need some change. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go on-site Monday - Wednesday due to our current working arrangements, so by now I was ready to stomp my feet and throw a tantrum.

On this particular Wednesday afternoon, I was feeling really run down, I was in a grumpy mood, feeling flat and lacking motivation. Despite having spending the morning at the gym with my personal trainer, I was stuck in this feeling of boredom eating. I could have ate everything in the house, if it was what I wanted.

When I boredom eat, I want junk food: crisps, chocolate, fizzy drinks and sweets!

Basically, everything that would ultimately make me feel bloated, heavy and crappy.

I've been a boredom eater since I was a kid! Like most children, I used to eat at every opportunity so my poor Mum had to hide our lunch box goodies, so we'd actually have something to take to school.

Now, I hadn't ran at lunchtime, as planned, so I wanted to get out after I logged off from work. However, this current feeling I was sitting in was far from one that would make me go for a run.

This is where self discipline is key!

I knew that if I didn't run, my butt would walk itself down to the shop to buy a load of crap to stuff myself silly with. I also knew that this would leave me feeling bloated and eventually annoyed. So, I grab my headphones, chucked on my running shoes, downloaded a podcast on my Garmin watch and took my behind for a run. Sitting at home wasn't going to make me feel better and so I decide to run in order to shift my mood.

The episode I had downloaded was by the amazing Emily Swaffield. She is a huge inspiration of mine and I love her podcast topics because they always help me to reflect on my life and where I need to take ownership of my choices. The episode was called "How to Manifest What You Want in Life!" and Emily was sharing her personal experience with manifesting and what she has found works.

The moment in particular that caught my attention the most was when Em was sharing how she manifested her husband into her life. She shared how she had wrote a letter describing the exact partner she wanted to attract into her life and the realisation that in order to attract this ideal partner, she had to become them.

Before you attract, you have to become

This was the BIGGEST takeaway and Emily's key lesson.

Everything you want in life is possible if you take the right action and create a strong mindset. But before anything can come into your life, you have to step into a version of you that can make it happen.

If you want to gain or lose weight, you have to become a version of you that can make it happen. A version of me I want to step into, is someone who is healthier and makes smarter choices when it comes to nutrition. On this day I made the right choice, I chose to go for a run and move my body as opposed to someone who goes to the shop and eats junk food.

I could have easily chosen the other option, but then I would never bring about the life I want.

What are you working on manifesting into your life right now? Are you taking the action you need to take? Are you stepping into the version of you that can make this happen?

Or, are you still doing the same thing and hoping for different results? Remember:

"If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll always get, what you've always got"

Here's some journal prompts to help guide you towards making the changes you want to see:

  1. What do you want to bring into your life / manifest / results?

  2. Why do you to achieve this? Get really specific here, because having a strong why can be a greater motivator.

  3. In order to achieve this goal / manifest this into your life, what version of you do you need to become? How do you start & end your day? How do you act? What decisions do you make?

  4. What do you need to do more of? What do you need to less of?

I would love to hear your experience with manifestation! Please leave me a comment on this post, or head over to my Instagram @_turnanewpaige_ and send me a DM.
